The Giggle Ball

Brand Identity, Packaging Design, and Product Wrap

*This project was completed for a school assignment, not contracted

Where did we start?

The Wobble Wag Giggle Ball is a dog toy produced by the TV brand, Pets Know Best. Sold at PetSmart, the toy is made to be inclusive for a variety of breeds, and produces silly noises when rolled.

The goal of this redesign was to help make the toy more recognizable and to stand out from other toys on the shelf.

Workshopping

The toy aisle of PetSmart features a wide array of brightly colored options and several repeat toys from differing brands. The Wobble Wag Giggle Ball, however, is unique in its sound-making capabilities.

I began by seeking out colors that could be noticeable by the pups walking by, and presenting vital information for owners through some fun font choices to go with the bubbly nature of the toy.

From this, I developed a tagline to establish voice and a solid foundation to build up from.

Finished Solution

With a shortening of the name — prioritizing the silly noises the toy makes in the title word “giggle” — I structures a new logo with a swoosh resembling a smile, and a ball placed at the end. The wordmark is bouncy and bubbly to follow the tone of the brand’s voice.

The package remains neutral with just the colored logo blown up at the top to prioritize the presentation of the toy. A small call to action, “Shake me!,” invites owners to interact with the product and discover its selling point — the goofy sound it makes. The packaging features floppy dog ears that not only look cute, but can be used as pull tabs to help consumers with easy-opening the packaging.
